Knights & Legends Tabletop RPG

Publisher: Knights & Legends Tabletop RPG

Knights & Legends Tabletop RPG I bought this on sale, only $2 so I wasn't expecting a lot. I was intrigued by mention of simple and strategic combat and a 'powerful toolbox' for fantasy rpg adventure. I'll just say that the description vastly overstates the content of this book. The first 10 pages (p. 4-14) are setting material which gives a very brief overview of an entire fantasy world. There are many classes presented, but for the most part they are only distinguished by the number of bonus points they can add to their basic stats and a single different ability. For instance a human paladin gets +2 to attack evil and undead foes, while a human warrior gets +1 to attack all foes. I also note that for each race there are maximum ability scores listed for each gender, which seems a distasteful in 2018. The rules then list one page of 'super abilities', including about 30 spells and another 12 special abilities. Each one of these 'super' abilities gets one line of description. This description usual...

Champions of the Spheres

Champions of the Spheres An Endzeitgeist.com review This massive supplement clocks in at 54 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page TOC (which also features a list of Spheres from Spheres of Power and Spheres of Might), 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 49 pages of content, so let’s take a look! In case you didn’t know already: This book basically represents a crossover-supplement between Drop Dead Studios’ critically-acclaimed Spheres of Power and Spheres of Might books, and as such, I assume familiarity with both of them in this review. This review was recently moved up in my reviewing queue at the request of my patreons. The pdf starts after a brief introduction to the matter at hand, with three new base classes, which make use of the Blended Training feature – this denotes that the character is treated as possessing Combat Training as a base class feature. The first of these would be the prodigy, who has d8 HD, 4 + Int skills per level, ¾ BAB-progression, good Ref...

20 Things #31: Blue Dragon's Lair (System Neutral Edition)

20 Things #31: Blue Dragon's Lair (System Neutral Edition) An Endzeitgeist.com review This installment of the #20 Things-series clocks in at 11 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages of advertisement, 1 page editorial/ToC, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 5 pages of content, so let’s take a look! On the first page, we get 8 names for male and female blue dragons, as well as a table of 12 blue dragon lair features – from fine shifting sands covering deep drift to rippled dunes blocking passage, the entries here present some rather cool details that can add genuine depth to the exploration: Sinkholes, veritable scorpion swarms and yes, even a pool that is fed by underground springs make for plausible and cool features to add to the lairs of the masters of deserts. Beyond these features, which can have a more pronounced impact on lair exploration, we also get 12 entries of dressing that are more cosmetic: Vanquished gnoll raiders, mangled shields that tell, by their presence of the failures of those that came before, faded ...

Endless Realms: Corebook Great game and great gameplay. As a beginner to the pen and paper role-playing medium I found the vice/virtue system to be easy to understand and act upon as compared to the traditional allignments. The comparative roll system was also new but after a very brief learning curve it was also very straight forward and much less combersom than what i have seen in other games. I also really like the different classes of moves that each charatcer can have, being able to initaite actions not only on their turn but also in response to other peoples turns. The settings and races are different than what I've seen before and sets the game up to be different than the basic adventurer games (at least imo). Overall I think this game would be enjoyed by beginners and seasoned vets since the overall mechanics are easy to pick up but the world is fresh and characters are interesting to play around with....

Vampire: the Masquerade 5th Edition

Vampire: the Masquerade 5th Edition I'll try not to be overly redundant, but to reinforce/reiterate that already stated. 1. Aesthetics: too cluttered. I wish they'd come out with a bare bones/no art version. It's ~uselessly pretty. 2. Rules: Looks to be a pretty nice improvement, and this is where the scales of usefulness tips, as the rules actually seem to support the kind of game that it is; the hunger mechanic addresses a big gripe that I've had with the WoD at large, namely that it degenerated into a supers game of various stripes. Not so any longer. 3. Setting. Silly, unbelievable in a bad way. One example is how they paint Francis and the Vatican as some stripe of secretly orthodox hammerers of haemovores. Another is where (shady grammar?) Harker seems to be talking about Vampires drowning. TL;DR- the rules are probably a four, if not a five. The rest I'll pick through like a dumpster, hoping for some good bits that don't strain credibility to the point of snapping. With the caveat that we keep the peas an...

Through Ultan's Door Issue 1 This is an absolutely gorgeous little adventure, full of things that are strange and ominous, twitching to strings the party can tug or ignore at their own whim. The text is beautifully typeset and the art is stunning. My only complaint about this module is that the world contained within is so evocative and fascinating that it's almost painful having such a small slice of it to explore. I eagerly await further releases.

Murders & Acquisitions RPG A really nice take on the corporate world, one that lets you do those impulsive and career threatening actions with the bold taking what they want and the meek crushed underfoot! Not mortal combat style but through subterfuge, misdirection, and skill will you frame your competition and leapfrog up the ladder passing by those too timid or weak to keep up with you. A fun, easily graspable game that lets anyone take on the rat race and see how far they can get up the top of the business food chain....

CAPERS RPG First off, the visuals in this book nail the feel of the 1920's and gangsters, G men and the the look of the cities. The terminology lingo of the time is another touch that helps bring the feel into the game. The powers are varied and allow plenty of customization. The card mechanic works well in the game and is a cool fresh approach. Take on the roles of Capers, for good or ill, and begin your adventures in the era of Prohibition, corruption, and the rare untouchable lawperson!

Fantasy Clip Inks:: Spot Art Set 9 Amazing art for DMs and creators alike. I almost don't want to tell people how good it is because I want as few people as possible to be using it! I use this stuff liberally in my products and have all of WM's art packs. Hoping he'll put out more. Top notch black and white line art. It don't get much better than this IMO. The art has a distinctive feel, reminds me a lot of FF Gamebooks. I use it in my own 5e Gamebooks. Easily worth the asking price.

Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master

Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master I think this book is one of those "must reads" for anyone considering being a game master, almost no matter what system you plan to play on. For full disclosure, I've heard great reviews of the original Lazy Dungeon master, but never actually read it, so while I don't know how much the the Lazy DM checklist has changed since the previous book, I know it has helped hone my preparations towards the things that helped improve my game in a way no other product ever has. The chapter on secrets has helped me conceptualize the idea of introducing story hooks and beats in a way that nothing else I've read has. It provides a simple, yet incredibly robust method for drip-feeding pertinent information and interesting secrets to the players, while making sure you don't ever have to run the risk of railroading the players by tying the information to a single NPC. I will admit, though, that your mileage may vary for the chapters outside the core checklist, as they contain more fuzzy advice on ...

Everyman Minis: Animal Companion Archetypes

Everyman Minis: Animal Companion Archetypes An Endzeitgeist.com review This Everyman Mini clocks in at 7 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page introduction/explanation, 2 pages of SRD, leaving us with2 pages of content, so let’s take a look! All right, so the notion of animal companion archetypes, if you haven’t stumbled across it in some shape or form, is pretty self-explanatory – these are basically archetypes to customize your companions, as per Ultimate Wilderness. Elemental spawns replace evasion with a scaling resistance to one of the 4 basic elements at 3rd level, and at 9th, multiattack is replaced with a dding the corresponding special weapon property (e.g. corrosive for acid) to natural attacks; this upgrades to the respective burst at 15th level. Cool one! Empath companions get Diplomacy and Sense Motive and gains +1 skill rank per HD that must be invested in these. It also gain empathic link, but replaces shared spells. Devotion is replaced with a morale bonus versus negative emotion effect...

Everyman Minis: Wild Shape Variants

Everyman Minis: Wild Shape Variants An Endzeitgeist.com review This Everyman Mini clocks in at 7 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of SRD, leaving us with 3 pages of content, so let’s take a look! On the introductory page, we receive a new shifter aspect, originally penned by Alexander Augunas for the Know Direction network – that would be the Eagle Aspect, which enhances Cha as per minor form; major form includes good flight, bit and claws and Dazzling Display/Weapon Focus (claw), which synergizes if you have them. Dazzling Display’s action economy also improves. The first page of the pdf is devoted to druid wild shape variants: These act as though they altered wild shape, though a maximum of one such variant may be applied. Some have prerequisites that must be met by 4th level to choose that option, and later losing the prerequisite also deprives of the option of assuming that shape. Evolved shape nets a 3 point evolution pool that increases by 1 at 6th level and every 2 levels ther...

Everyman Minis: Animal Teamwork Feats

Everyman Minis: Animal Teamwork Feats An Endzeitgeist.com review This Everyman Mini clocks in at 8 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page introduction, 2 pages of SRD, 1 page blank, leaving us with 2 pages of content, so let’s take a look! The new feats within are: -Aspect Unity: requires animal focus; nets +1 to Ref and +2 to initiative when you and an ally within 60 ft. emulate the same focus. -Aspect Harmony: Builds on the previous feat, increases bonuses granted by the aspect, but not the prereq feat, by +50%. -Coordinated Grapple: Nets you basically advantage (roll twice, take better result) to initiate, but not to maintain grapples versus targets threatened by character + ally with the feat. -Coordinated Pounce: High-level feat building on Coordinated Charge; even though called pounce, it actually behaves more like Vital Strike and provides synergy with those types of feats. -Coordinated Rend: Okay, this one can be interesting: When hitting a creature you and an ally thre...

Sex Cult of Cthulhu (Cardstock Characters™)

Sex Cult of Cthulhu (Cardstock Characters™) If you recently picked up the Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder book and have started implementing its sinister secrets and cults into your campaign, then there's a good chance that you can yse this set of cardstock characters. Those culty people love having dark ceremonies filled with sex and sacrifice and unless you're holding on to a rusty set of Ral Partha miniatures from 1981, you'll have a hard time finding the appropriate figures to put on the board. Just print these pages out and follow the directions to assemble them. You'll have your evil cult up and dirty dancing in no time! They could use a couple male figures as well, just to balance it out, but I'm not complaining. That might make for a good follow up set. ...
